9-11 Commission scores a minor victory

UPDATE: Bush cracks under pressure

Can you really call it "doing the right thing" when you only do it under intense scrutiny and pressure? Does that really count?

Isn't that the giveaway as to the real character of this so-called President?

I used to give Bush the benefit of the doubt. I used to, really, I did. I can't do that any more. He's wrung me out, kids.

Bush Softens 9/11 Commission Stance

WASHINGTON - President Bush will answer privately all questions raised by a federal commission investigating the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, the White House said Tuesday, softening its insistence that Bush's testimony be limited to an hour.

"Nobody's watching the clock," White House press secretary Scott McClellan said.

Still, he said an hour was "a reasonable period of time to set aside for a sitting president of the United States." [...] The commission urged Bush to meet with all of its members, not just the chairman and vice chairman.

You really should read the transcript from the source for this news story. I'm not sure if Scott McClellan meant to say what he said--that the president would answer ALL questions from the commission--as much as it was BEATEN OUT OF HIM.

Go read it. It's a scream.
